I have a Honours Bachelor’s degree from McMaster University in the Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour program, Social Sciences. Through my education, I have refined my communication, writing and listening skills. I honed my teamwork abilities in several group projects and in Dr. Sigal Balshine’s lab. In addition, as a student educated in mental health related issues and as a registered status native, I understand the importance of working with all groups of people and I am better equipped with providing for everyone’s needs. A final point is I have a lot of practice using Microsoft Office, Imagej, search engines, and databases.For eleven years, I worked as a casual staff member in the Local History and Archives department of the Hamilton Public Library. I obtained a variety of useful skills that apply to working in a human services capacity. I am experienced in customer relations, the usage and demonstration of library equipment, organization of books and materials, coordination and communication with other staff members, and promoting a knowledge-passionate atmosphere.I currently work at the Aboriginal Health Centre as the Intake and Identification Coordinator for Indigenous Housing Services. I complete assessments for potential housing clients and process their applications while working in tandem with the housing staff team to ensure that each individual’s transition in to the program goes smoothly and all their needs are met. I assist clients with identification by researching specific application processes and assisting individuals in meeting the necessary criteria.
