The Stage Manager is an integral member of the production staff at the Bandshell Stage during the Minnesota State Fair. The position is responsible for general onstage and backstage operations of bandshell performances and serves as the liaison between the performers and the Minnesota State Fair staff.Essential Functions:• Advance contract riders with tour managers for 25 acts and relay necessary information to Entertainment staff in a timely manner• Act as on-site liaison with IATSE and contracted sound technicians• Work with Minnesota State Fair staff in coordinating ground transportation and hospitality for all artists• Oversee backstage refreshments for performers and assist in fulfilling artist requirements detailed in riders• Manage back-of-house operations before and during performances, including the back-of-house parking area• Responsible for ensuring artists adhere to Minnesota State Fair schedule (load-in/load-out, arrival/departure from backstage and dressing room areas, sound check, starting/ending scheduled performance sets)• Be a welcoming representative of the Minnesota State Fair

In this position I was able to assist in the design of a comprehensive survey focusing on compensation amongst educational theatre professionals, after having the survey open for 3 months we had received over 300 responses. I designed the presentation materials, as well as a report distributed to those who attended the 2013 National USITT conference session "What's it Worth, compensating for production." At the conference I moderated the panel discussion as well as facilitating the session so that we successfully explored all of the materials while still allowing for questions from the audience. An article was published in TD&T in November of 2013 that summarized this project written by Frank Ludwig.

Working on the first production in a newly renovated blackbox theatre on a production of "The Music Man" included drafting the plot, working with a Master Electrician to complete the rig as well as assist with focus, Cue-ing, and other general tasks.

As an intern at CATF I helped to perform yearly maintenance, and repairs on the lighting inventory. I also assisted the Master Electricians and other intern to hang, circuit and focus lights in the three theatre spaces. I programed a show in the Studio Theatre, which is the space where I was the board op and master electrician for the two shows that ran in rep durring the season.
