Logistic Operations Manager 27 Regiment
Complete responsibility for over 180 personnel and around £200 million worth of equipment, vehicles, fuel, ammunition, explosives and other logistic commodities. The principle role was to generate an organisation from a small core in readiness to deploy to Afghanistan and deliver operational excellence over a logistically demanding tour. On tour the core objectives were focused on reducing the logistic footprint to assist in the drawdown from Afghanistan. This role required a very wide range of skills from broader project management to enable the closure of 5 large warehouses, to the SQL programming of ORACLE discoverer to allow phased reductions in capacity.The achievements were significant reducing the logistic footprint by 75% and the manpower requirements by 50%. This was achieved whilst maintaining support to ongoing operations and moving circa £1 billion worth of assets through the Supply Chain. As a result awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Operational Honours list 2015. Overall the team made a significant contribution to the withdrawal from Afghanistan enabling elements to drawdown ahead of schedule and contributing to the wider teams success.This was reflected in the award of the European Supply Chain Excellence Award - Team of the Year 2014.
