Equity Analyst
CurrentGeneralist equity analyst with an emphasis on identifying quality, large-cap, businesses with cultures constructive to sustained value creation for inclusion within the firm's Global Blue Chip Strategy (>£300 million in AUM). Responsibilities include:• Reading and appraising financial statements, company earnings updates, strategy documents and broader industry information to determine the operating environment and the existence of a structural competitive advantage.• Writing articles explaining the investment process and stock rationales. This includes producing monthly factsheets, quarterly commentaries and ad-hoc articles for inclusion on the company’s website, in local publications and the national press.• Contributing to the development and implementation of a discounted cash flow valuation framework.• Communicating ideas and listening to, digesting and responding to the opinions of others.• Conducting attribution analysis and understanding the drivers behind performance.• Mentoring others on the strategy’s process and approach taken to analysing companies. This included designing financial statement checklists and running analysis workshops for other interested colleagues.Experiencing using Bloomberg and FactSet and integrating into Excel workflows. Possess a basic understanding of Python and VBA and a willingness to develop further.
