Sr. Network Engineer
Current* For the past year I have been the network requirements, architecture, and design lead for a major USAF system that is progressing through DoD's formal acquisition process. Responsible for communications services, site and subsystem level designs, perimeter defense, implementation and operations planning, and life cycle cost estimation. Implemented an operational prototype and successfully presented and defended the technical solution at the program's PDR. Developed tailored requirements for a hosting solution along with evaluation criteria for evaluating cloud computing hosting models and service providers best suited to the program. * Data Center Network Engineer - US Army PEO-EIS - Migrated Army servers into a commercial hosting provider environment. Responsible for design and implementation of network and IA infrastructure. Configured Cisco WAN access router, IPsec-based site-to-site and remote access VPNs, zone based firewall and NIDPS, and data center switching. * Network SME to US Navy's Next Generation Enterprise Network - Derived requirements for managed LAN and WAN in preparation for their acquisition from service providers. Contributed to the development of technical management processes for service delivery, the program's work breakdown structure, integrated master schedule, and manpower estimates. * Led a small engineering team supporting DISA Enterprise Wide Systems Engineering (EWSE) chartered to improve guidance for DoD’s Global Information Grid (GIG) initiative. Investigated motivations and requirements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies. Assessed alternative approaches for controlling exchange of traffic between customer-provisioned IPsec-based VPNs. Recommended improvements to GIG architecture to facilitate improved traffic exchange between sustaining and deployed forces. Investigated protection mechanisms to counter threats and vulnerabilities to network control plane signaling.
