> Within the Histology department I perform duties such as, Type 1 dissection; carry out transfer of tissue into its cassette. Able to give description of measurements and number of pieces in a standardised manner for dictation purposes, handwritten or digital recording. > Embedding of tissue, careful orientation of various different types of tissue, such as the routine tissues, cores, skin punches etc. > Basic microtomy of cutting sections on an average of 30 blocks an hour. > Able to gage the tissue in the block and decide whether it requires Molli fex for softening the tissue or decalcifier for calcifification tissue. Able to cut levels and serials. Able to carry out the specials stains such as: Pas, Pas D, AbPas, AbPasD, AYTB, Toluidin Blue, Giemsa, Retic, EVG and Gram.
