Ever since I was a little kid I have always loved software development. I still have fond memories of opening the latest Nibble magazine and copying the latest basic tutorial onto our families Apple II and tweaking it a bit to see what it would do.I took this love professionally where I obtained a Computer Science degree and worked as a Software Developer for 11 years. Soon after this, I discovered another passion; building great teams by coaching and mentoring. It gets me excited to see teams I helped build, firing on all cylinders and delivering high quality software at a regular cadence for our customers. I have been in software development for over 27 years, 15 of which have been leading teams. Of course, I can't take all the credit. I have had the honour of working with some great teams and leaders who understand what it takes to perform at a high level and to sometimes defer their individual honours aside for the team. I want to teach others what my great leaders and teams from past have taught me. I try and build not only a team first mentality but also a family culture where everyone has each other's back.I am also passionate about giving back and supporting the next generation. That's why my wife and I have set up 2 scholarships at the University of Calgary.
