I am a confident and engaging public speaker with dynamic presentation skills. Specific experience includes being start-up Account General Manager for Liberty Source PBC, taking the company from 2 to 95 employees and a $multi-million, multi-year service agreement with Aol; working as a systems and operational test engineer; mariner skills training and education. In addition to commanding a shore training facility, I served as the captain/chief executive officer of three ships, each with a unique leadership and organizational challenge. USS RAVEN (MHC 61) was a "startup" in which I was the first Commanding Officer, charged with crew assembly and training, and strategically planning and executing a path to deployment readiness. I took command of USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) (a "restartup") with less than two hours of notice, quickly reversed a trend of poor operational performance, and deployed on short notice into a combat zone. In command of USS BATAAN (LHD 5), I led our crew of over 1100 personnel and 1500 embarked Marines in preparing for and deploying with DoD's first Marine MV-22 Osprey integrated capable Air Combat Element. I've also demonstrated award-winning leadership in community and non-profit arenas on Boards of Directors for the Admiral Nimitz Foundation which supports the National Museum of the Pacific War, VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads, Surface Navy Association (Chapter and National level), and leadership team of Restoration Church at Landstown in Virginia Beach, VA.
