Sam is a business integrity, good governance, ethical stewardship, data privacy & data protection, information security & cybersecurity, digital transformation, AI and GRC advocate and consultant. A practicing and certified Data Protection Officer, he is the Founding President of the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines (NADPOP), the Philippines’s first association of data privacy, data protection, cybersecurity and GRC professionals. Concurrently, Sam is the Vice President of the Philippine Computer Emergency Response Team (PH-CERT), the Philippines’ first CERT. He is also Co-Founder and Founding Vice chair of Cloud Security Alliance Philippines, the PH chapter of Cloud Security Alliance global. Recently, Sam was invited to be part of the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA), a Japan-based non-profit organization which envisions a Cyber Resilient Asia. He leads the Strategic Communication and Brand Center of AJCCA,He is a published author with the Better Business Book 2.0 that launched in 2017, and the creator of the Data Privacy Canvas — a data ecosystem building framework that was launched in 2018. In 2022, Sam also created with his son Sean, the Experience Data Protection Table Top Business Simulation System. Afterwards, they launched the following: Experience Cybersecurity and Information Security; Experience Digital Transformation (DX); Experience AI; Experience GRC; and soon, Experience Resilience.Sam served for nearly two decades in key leadership roles at global technology leaders such as Microsoft, Yahoo!, and Intel Corp. At Microsoft, he was the recipient of two Global Circle of Excellence Awards, one of the highest recognitions given by Bill Gates and Microsoft to its employees. At Intel, he received regional and departmental awards for campaigns and programs he delivered in Southeast Asia. At Yahoo! Corp., he managed almost 30 million Filipino users of the online platform during his stint as the Country Head of Audience.On top of these, Sam is a technology and social entrepreneur.
