In my current role I primarily work with students who have special needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). My role includes:- Supporting teachers with IEP (Individual Education Plan) development,- Design and development of a sensory room to cater for students' sensory needs,- Liaising with external agencies to support students with special educational needs,- Communicating with parents,- Developing social/emotional workshops for students with ASD,- Line-managing Education Assistants in Learning Support department,- Developing learning resources for use with students with ASD and intellectual disabilities,- Developing my own knowledge and understanding of how to support students with ASD,- Implementing the use of the SEN Assessment Tool to report on student achievement,- Sharing information about ASD with colleagues.

My responsibilities in this role included:- English curriculum design and planning for Years 8 and 9- Design and development of learning resources for use in the classroom- Working across curriculum areas to develop content area literacy- Tutoring small groups - Training staff in the implementation of reading comprehension strategies
