I recently completed a Master's in Mechanical Engineering along with a Certificate in Precision Metrology, which opened up the exciting opportunity to do research in metrology for additive manufacturing (AM). My research project explored process monitoring using an in-house designed and fabricated instrumented build plate for in-situ stress monitoring and crack detection during the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) metal AM process. As a kid, I took apart an oscillating fan and wondered if I could make a big drill with the electric motor. My interest in engineering was officially jump-started when I decided to plug in the motor with my hand wrapped around the metal housing! I have a love for hands-on work, a fascination of flying things, an insatiable curiosity, a healthy respect for electricity but a growing interest in electronics and a passion for innovative solutions that keep our planet healthy. While paying attention to detail in everything I do, I always keep an eye on the big picture and thrive working together with a team.I started my engineering coursework at community college while working as a handyman and computer technician, served in the Marine Corps for a few years, then ran a computer repair shop before eventually selling the business to continue my education at UNCC. I have completed multiple summer internships, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and gained invaluable hands-on, practical experience. Right down my alley. Upon graduating with my BSME, I successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. In May 2020 I graduated from UNCC with a Master's in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Precision Metrology.I love to travel, imagine humans among the stars, climb rocks, dance salsa, learn languages, meet new people, eat good food, read history books, jam out to all kinds of music, have great conversations, wrench on my Jeep, join pickup games and volunteer wherever I can.
