Contracted by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation to consult on the communications strategy for their inaugural Frank Hurley Photography Awards – an initiative to broaden the foundation’s reach by aligning their mandate for the protection of Australian Antarctic heritage with the photography community. In this role, I was responsible for web copywriting and eDMs, socials posts, press releases and for handling all PR and media request. The contest attracted coverage from media outlets including the Guardian, Al Jazeera, the Daily Mail and South China Morning Post.

Antarctica

For Discovery Channel, I functioned as a camera operator and producer in Antarctica over the 2013-14 and 2016-17 austral summers. I was tasked with capturing, editing, producing content for immediate media use & filing of footage for archive and TV production. In the latter role of producer, I oversaw a team of four to formulate and execute storylines and managed internal communications between teams across a fleet of vessels in the Southern Ocean. Crucial to this role was the timely production of relevant and coherent footage as well as creation of press releases that were delivered to Australian and international media outlets on a rolling basis.

Oversaw management and secure storage of digital assets for the project “Great Bear Rainforest” produced for IMAX by Pacific Wild and narrated by Ryan Reynolds. My responsibilities also included camera preparation and production of collateral for social media and internal communications, updates from the field.
