I'm Sam Strick, game designer, and I love play in all forms.Like a lot of us, I have a pretty roundabout career, but I'm happy to say it's always involved games or play. It's taken me from advergames back in the Flash days, to interactive theater, to board games, the esports, playground design, indie games, AR and VR, and mobile!I've often been in roles at small companies where I am a one man army, responsible for the creative vision, and execution... and I'm happy to say those days are behind me. Most recently, my role was game director at Very Very Spaceship, where I got to work with some of the most talented people I could imagine working with. All of the skills I've earned over the years—game design, art, and code—helped me be a better communicator and leader, and I'm proud of that team.When it comes to game design, I'm a generalist. I can architect a set of intermeshing systems, design those systems, and create content for those designs. I'm as comfortable in a spreadsheet working with an economy as I am balancing second-to-second combat in an action title.
