From that data, we were able to find a lot of opportunities, including savings from using generic utilization ($200K/month), comparing retail costs to the wholesale price to determine gaps (~$5M one time), linking medication adherence to medical costs to determine those needing adherence ($120M/year), and other opportunities.I also raised the sophistication of analysis. Instead of looking at utilization by zip code, we used geocoding to find opioid usage within 2 miles (urban areas) of retail pharmacies. This gave an idea of high utilization areas and ideal partners. We also considered a alternate compensation model for producers.
