Profile bio

About Samuel Ames

A solicitor by training, I have over 12 years' experience across a range of practice areas. For the last nine years I have focused on personal estate planning and wealth management. I specialise in trusts including their administration, variation and resettlement, in addition to drafting wills, property conveyancing and refinancing, advising on enduring powers of attorney, filing applications under the Protection of Personal Property Rights Act 1988, and estate administration. A large part of my practice involves advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries in regard to estate claims, reviewing constitutions of incorporated societies and advising boards of trustees. I am involved in a growing number of family settlements which have avoided potentially costly, uncertain and time-consuming litigation. I enjoy advising clients on how to order their personal legal affairs and protect against the future. I appreciate the importance of bringing about peace of mind in resolving legal issues. The legal nature of a trust and the law of charities and incorporated societies are areas of particular interest to me. I also have an interest in legal education having written and presented a number of papers for the Auckland District Law Society and the New Zealand Law Society.

Listed skills include Legal Advice, Dispute Resolution, Legal Writing, Immigration Law, and 12 others.
