I'm currently in my 12th year at Cummins and have spent seven of those as an electrical and electronic maintenance engineer fixing CNC machinery, Grinders, Lathes, Balance machines, Assembly equipment, Friction welders and others. For the past 4 and a half years I have worked as a Controls and Automation engineer building and programming assembly equipment as an on-site OEM. I have a lot of experience working with Alllen Bradley and some with Siemens. I have programmed PLC and HMI applications for Assembly lines and Assembly benches, providing a fully working and safe system for operators to use. Working for a large company like Cummins has taught me many skills around dealing with a lot of different people cross functionally on a daily basis as well as how to act and the responsibilities of working for a large company. I also have a lot of experience working in high pressure situations, this has come with working in maintenance as an repair engineer, when a breakdown occurs and downtime is occurring the pressure is on to resolve the issue and pass the machine back to production. I've also experienced a different type of pressure in my Controls and Automation role as delivering projects to a set timescale can be challenging, especially when dealing with unforseen issues that occur in every part of life. I would say that I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from these roles and only wish to push myself further by taking on new challenges and hopefully one day managing my own team.
