About Sam Elling

Following my graduation in June 2019 from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a double minor in Aerospace Engineering and Business & Entrepreneurship, I was hired as a Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin. In 2022, I transitioned to Mechanical Engineering and am currently a CPE (Certified Principle Engineer) for a major subsystem.During my senior year at Oregon State, I competed in the NASA University Student Launch competition as the Payload Team Lead and Mechanical Engineer where we placed 4th out of 45 teams and received the Best Vehicle Design award. I also lead two additional volunteer engineering projects that supported the main team. Also throughout college, I completed two 6-month internships at Benchmade Knife Company and Consolidated Metco, positioned as a Mechanical Design Engineer and Test Engineer, respectively. During my internship at Benchmade, I patented one of my designs, which will be released in their products soon.
