I am an MPH candidate at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a recent Biotechnology graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). I am dedicated to community organizing and advocacy in the context of health, medicine, and policy. As an MPH candidate in the Department of Population and Family Health with a Certificate in Environmental Health Policy, I am working and studying at the intersection of those fields. Striving to one day to be a primary care physician, I value deep community ties and understanding of how complex systems, our built environment, and various other structures impact health both on an individual and population level. I have an extensive background in both clinical work and research. Spending all four years of my undergrad as an biotechnology undergraduate researcher at WPI in the labs of professors Retta Rao and Joseph Duffy I grew comfortable developing and leading wet-lab research. I also was a lab intern at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Public Health Researcher at Columbia University. In each role I led research projects in either neurology, genetics, or public health. As for clinical work, I was an ER Scribe, a Case Manager, and a Medical Assistant over the last 4 years growing my comfort with patient interactions and clinical teamwork. Regarding policy and advocacy, I am a former intern for Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan and was the Deputy Campaign Manager for Hunter Gross's campaign for Huntington town council. I am also the former Policy Director for Skyler Johnson's campaign for NYS Senate. At WPI, I was the Chairman of the Student Government Association, a Crimson Key tour guide, and a Peer Learning Assistant of Cell Biology and Genetics courses. Some miscellaneous info: I am an Eagle Scout, have given two TEDed talks, and play piano, trumpet, and guitar. I also do stand-up comedy!Overall, I have a passion for helping people at home and abroad through community service, policy advocacy, and robust research.
