Monitoring of the Swiss extra-high-voltage grid around the clock, so electricity is reliably transported and distributed across all parts of the country and through the continent in close collaboration with European industry partners. Mastering critical grid situations and ensuring the constant stability and reliability of the Swiss extra-high-voltage grid, making sure it is always available thanks to capacity forecast and optimization analysis.This position involves knowledge on the physical infrastructure, energy products, power plants exploitation, outage planing, renewable energy, base load energy and energy markets levels.Goal is to mitigate a black-out.

Increase the capacity and strengthen the reliability of the Swiss extra high voltage transmission network by redefining the exploitation strategy.- Local conditions consideration in the data analysis: temperature field, altitude, wind speed field, lines layout- Study of a multi-risk probabilistic method based on ambient temperature, network disturbance, excessive energy flow… leading to an unacceptable threshold in the transport capacity and in a potential unavailability of the infrastructure.- Analysis of the possible changes in terms of transmission capacity and impact they could have on the Swiss energy industry at the network security level.- Combination of network, probability and meteorological models.

The EPFL racing team is competing in the Formula Student. It is basically the F1 competition of universities under the supervision of FIA.
