For the past twenty plus years, I have had the pleasure of assisting students getting into their respective dream high schools and colleges. My philosophy is based upon hard work. I tell my students, “I work hard; you work hard; and, together, we succeed.” I have penned numerous study guides, including: a fifty-six page SAT Math Test guide , a twenty-three page SAT Writing and Language Test guide, a twenty-one page SAT Reading Test guide, as well as a seventy-two page ACT Math Test guide, a thirty-four page ACT English Test guide, a nineteen page ACT Reading Test guide, a fifteen page ACT Science Test guide, and numerous study guides for various standardized high school exams—SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, TACHS, and HSPT. In addition, throughout the tutoring process, I generate a slew of individualized Worksheets, all geared toward perfecting my students’ strengths, and ameliorating my students’ weaknesses on the various aspects of the exams.Having taught in a classroom setting, I prefer individualized tutoring because it allows me to focus on my students’ respective test weaknesses. During the tutoring process, I always assign targeted homework assignments—designed to strengthen those test weaknesses—assignments which we carefully go over at our next tutoring session, before learning new concepts. I regularly provide progress reports to my tutoring families, and support to my students.I also cobble together a group of eight to ten of my students, at my midtown Manhattan office, for the purpose of taking a series of three to five practice exams prior to each of their respective actual test dates. I believe these ‘practice exams’ are particularly helpful because not only do I use actual, prior, recent exams, but the tests are given under the same circumstances as their actual upcoming exam, and scored in the same manner as the real test. Finally, after each exam, I provide my students with a full deconstruction of the test.As much as I love tutoring my students for their respective standardized exams, I believe where I offer the most assistance to my students is in the capacity of a college counselor. From helping my students winnow down their list of schools, emphasizing reach schools, to helping my students craft dynamic essays, I go above and beyond to do whatever it takes to assist my students in gaining entry into their respective dream schools. In this regard, I am proud of the prestigious secondary schools and prestigious domestic and international universities my students have gained entry into over these past twenty plus years.
