One of the first times I had worked with Sam was when he helped me on an open ended heat exchanger project for our Heat and Mass Transfer class. I was having difficulty narrowing down and understanding the approach we needed to take on the project. Sam impressed me with his ability to take large technical problems and break them down into very manageable steps. I was also fortunate to have Sam as a colleague for our Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Project with Parker-Hannifin in Grantsburg, WI. We were tasked with implementing robotic automation to an assembly process that is currently being performed by a human operator approximately 13 hours a day. Sam was a Control Engineer on the project and created the HMI programming and interface along with documentations and standard operating procedures. He was always punctual in meetings and had a great knack for keeping a project scope. The HMI interface Sam created for operator use was simplistic and intuitive. It will be used to predetermine batch sizes, provide quality check and system status, notify the operator when the variable part feeder needs to be reloaded, and has the capability of resetting the cell when the light curtains are broken. This HMI interface exceeded all the client’s expectations. Sam also did a phenomenal job putting together the final report which included comprehensive and ready-to-implement Bill of Materials, descriptions of each cell component, and appendices including mechanical drawings and standard operating procedures. This robotics assembly project is estimated to have a net present value of $190, 000 and will be implemented by Parker-Hannifin within the fiscal year of 2016-2017. Sam has proven to be a phenomenal team player on large technical projects. I look forward to seeing his future successes and believe he will be a great asset to any organization or company that has the chance to work with him. "

To manufacture the device all material was sourced from a multitude of vendors which involved logistical challenges to minimize lead times.
