Physician executive and psychiatrist with diverse clinical, administrative, and public health experience. Areas of professional interest include technology & innovation in healthcare, community, rural, & global health and mental health; integrated care working with providers, payers, and teams across medical disciplines; and health system, economic, social determinant factors, as well as faith and spiritual beliefs that are interconnected with access to healthcare in communities and neighborhoods. I presently serve as the Senior Medical Director for Magellan Healthcare, Inc, where I am responsible for clinical service implementation and innovation, utilization management, cost of care, and quality of care for the Idaho Behavioral Health Plan (IBHP). The IBHP is the framework for how behavioral health services for mental health and substance use disorder conditions are administered in Idaho by Magellan in partnership with IDHW Divisions of Behavioral Health, Medicaid, and Department of Juvenile Corrections. Previously, I led two Behavioral Health service lines as the System Physician leader at St Luke’s Health System and Novant Health respectively. I received my undergraduate degree from Willamette University. I received my Medical Degree and Master of Biomedical Sciences from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed my residency and fellowship training in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I received my Master of Public Health and certification in Global Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business LEAD program as a Distinguished Scholar, receiving a certificate in Leadership, Management, and Business Strategy. Starting in the Fall of 2025, I will begin studying theology, medicine, and culture at Duke Divinity School. I am a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
