Teacher
Currently I am working as a Substitute Teacher, primarily through Pajaro Valley Unified School District. I have worked both as a Long-Term Substitute with assignments lasting over 60 days, as well as an Emergency Guest Substitute working day-to-day. As a Guest Substitute, I have been responsible for coming into various classrooms across the District and across grade levels (K-12), and following teacher supplied plans to manage, cover, and instruct classes while their full-time teachers have been absent. For Long-Term positions I have filled school vacancies acting as a Full-Time Teacher. This year I have filled 2 Long-Term positions, a 7th grade classroom for the first 3rd of the school year and a 1st grade classroom for the 2nd half of the school year. During my time in both positions, I have been responsible for creating, organizing, and implementing a lesson plan for class instruction, in step with district and state guidelines, managing both classrooms as well as coordinating teams of aides, intervention staff, and administrators working with the classroom. I’ve been responsible for communicating with parents and staff about student behavior, performance, and progress, as well as maintaining records on student’s academic and behavioral performance in class. My experiences as a Teacher have been a mix of providing academic and behavioral support, helping develop young students academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as filling leadership and management roles helping coordinate and manage both the students in class as well as the staff working in each classroom. Teaching is a constant balancing act, that has required me to wear many different hats to competently fill the role, juggling the duties of an educator, behavioral counselor, project manager, and administrator to successfully run a classroom. Teaching has given me a multitude of skills and experiences that can serve me in both educational settings and carry over into many different industries
Line Cook
In between my time with Sunshine SPED and my current position, I worked at Humble Sea Brewery as a Line Cook. Cooking being a personal passion of mine, I wanted to step outside and get experience in an industry I was unfamiliar with and get professional experience in cooking. Hired as a Dishwasher and being promoted to Line Cook my primary responsibilities were to prep and serve during dinner services working with a team of 3 others. Covering pantry, fry and sauté stations I would work on the line during dinner service, taking orders routinely serving over 100 customers at a given time. Working in this environment was extremely fast-paced, requiring a need for strong communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and consistency in work. Given the high-stress environment of the kitchen, a cool head under pressure was necessary for success. Humble Sea healed me develop many skills that have carried over into my professional career, as well as practical cooking skills that have carried over into my personal life.
Behavioral Technician / Behavioral Specialist
During my time with Sunshine Special Ed, I worked as a Behavioral Technician, and later a Behavioral Specialist, for the special education services company focused on providing behavioral therapy for clients diagnosed with Autism (ASD) & ADHD. As a Behavioral Technician my primary duties were to work one on one with clients administering therapy plans created by a Specialist & Behavioral Analyst. While working one on one, I would create, structure, and provide an educational routine and action plan to focus on targeting behavioral goals laid out by the Specialist & Analyst. I would then record data based on the client's responses to the action plan into a database with the client's information, and report back my findings to the Specialist and Analyst. Later on, after being given the opportunity to work as a Case Supervisor, I would help the Analyst manage client cases by creating specific programs for Technicians to use in their action plans, compile raw data recorded by the Technician into charts and graphs for the Analyst when making further diagnoses and recommending new treatment options, as well as providing supervision for Technicians during one to one therapy sessions, training and information sessions for the parents and families of clients, and working as the primary bridge of communication between the client, the client's family, Technician, and Analyst.
Administrative Assistant
Prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic I was hired by the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District as an Administrative Assistant by way of Santa Cruz Staffing Agency. My primary function was to assist the management of the transit’s customer service department with day-to-day clerical tasks as well as helping schedule rides for Santa Cruz Metro’s ParaTransit system. As an Administrator, I was responsible for scheduling meetings and appointments, updating and messaging employees in the customer service department, filing and mailing documents, taking calls from clients and customers, and taking inventory and ordering supplies. During this time I used MS Office and multi-line phone systems to complete my tasks. As a scheduler, I used a ride scheduling software called EcoLine to schedule rides for the Metro’s ParaTransit system. I would regularly take calls from clients using the system and schedule their appointments into the EcoLine system and communicate with a dispatcher to deliver the correct ride for the client. I would regularly take customer service calls as well, providing information and support for customers using the Metro, acting as a public face for the business.
