Ph.D. candidate in the Energy and Resources Group, and in the Renew­able and Appro­pri­ate Energy Lab.My research focus is at the inter­sec­tion of the scal­a­bil­ity chal­lenge for elec­tric­ity mini-​​grids and the socio-​​economic char­ac­ter­is­tics of urban­iza­tion in Africa, par­tic­u­larly for the arti­sans and entre­pre­neurs who con­sti­tute the ‘pro­duc­tive’ users of such energy sys­tems. I engage with these ques­tions as a Chancellor's Fellow and through National Science Foundation programming in DToD (Digital Transformations of Development) and INFEWS (Inno­va­tions at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Sys­tems).My main research project interrogates the linkages between power quality and health outcomes in North Kivu, DRC, using IoT sensors for high-resolution, low-latency performance tracking.

The ClimateForce Challenge is a non-profit initiative dedicated to popularizing climate change solutions that decarbonize the global economy.It is no longer sufficient to simply switch to low-carbon fossil-fuel alternatives. It is imperative to scale processes that remove anthropogenic emissions from the atmosphere and store them safely. If humanity does not develop this ability by mid-century, global average temperatures will exceed the 2˚∆ relative to pre-industrial levels target set in 2015 Paris agreement by around 2066 (NASA, MIT analysis). Faculty for African Leadership University's foundational core class on project management, targeting critical thinking, research, analysis and presentation for two sections of 30 students from across the continent. - Project origination, scoping, design and delivery with clients including Uber, L'Oreal, IBM, JC Decaux and CIM Finance.- Designed English Immersion program – researched best practices in English Immersion programs globally, hired 2 English language faculty, and launched successful program for 14 students. Students were fully-functional freshmen in Anglophone setting after 3-month intensive program.
