Samuel has a background in architecture with a focus on sustainability. He has additional training and experience in Passive House design and has earned a LEED AP credential with a specialty in building design and construction. Sam has also taken the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) training course. RHFAC uses a LEED-style rating system to evaluate a building or site for accessibility compared against best practices outlined in CSA B651. He has over three years of experience working intensively with the LEED rating system. Sam was the lead sustainability consultant for the first LEEDv4 certified building in Nova Scotia, which involved overcoming obstacles that arise while navigating a new standard. His experience with the LEED rating systems includes schools, offices, industrial, and institutional buildings, working across numerous versions including LEED 2009, v4, and v4.1.Samuel is experienced in using both Vectorworks and Revit to produce design work. His experience in residential design includes renovations, additions, and new construction. His favorite part of design is visiting the site throughout construction and seeing it transform and take shape.
