During my time with The Other Side Village, my role expanded dramatically as I showed an abillity to take on more and more. In all, I managed around 20 people and five departments, working 80-100 hours each week to make it possible.I worked with our Executive Team to develop the Welcome Neighborhood -- an innovative, transitional Therapeutic Community program designed to give people who have spent years living on the streets a place to get safe, stabilized, and develop the basic skills they would need to keep their housing long term at The Other Side Village. After a year of deep research and visiting models all over the world, I was put in charge of launching the program in March 2022.A few of my most important responsibilities included:Interviewing and hiring staff membersDeveloping training for staffDeveloping our client recruiting pipelines from the streets and other service providersDesigning, testing, and refining program elements -- most especially our use of democratic group processes and client co-production of care plansDesigning and launching a social enterprise to grow meaningful revenue and fit our clients varying work capacities Designing and remodeling our physical spaceOverseeing our volunteer recruiting and deployment, including onboarding a volunteer management platformManaging the constant, unpredictable crises that arise when working with this populationDeveloping budgets and projections for both the Welcome Neighborhood and the social enterpriseCreating and nurturing relationships with community stakeholders, including the creation of an advisory committee I drew from the neighborhoods surrounding our proposed siteWorking with outside service providers and vetting the quality of their offeringsContinuing to manage our communications team, including our digital presence and public outreachWorking with elected officials and rallying public support for our project to secure unanimous approval from the City Council

I was hired as a Communications Consultant by The Other Side Village to help with their outreach as they went through the public process of obtaining land, gaining community consent, rezoning, & executing a public benefit analysis. This quickly turned into a full-time, Director role, as I was able to demonstrate my ability to develop and oversee all the different aspects of our communications/outreach and as the organization's needs expanded dramatically.After 1.5 years of outreach and moving through the political process, we obtained unanimous approval from the Salt Lake City Council. During this time, I was able to:Develop & execute mobilization campaigns for the Planning Commission/City Council votes, which involved outreach to officials, the media, public advocates, & coordinating & deploying them at crucial steps in the process.Help develop our brand & overall communications/outreach strategyDevelop a Community Advisory Committee comprised of people who live/work by our site to help us adjust the project to better serve their needs.Work with elected officials, community leaders,& grassroots organizers directly to answer questions and earn their advocacy.Present to Community Councils across the city and developing relationships with themIdentify & onboard an external communications partner to coordinate w/ our internal team that I developed.Develop our digital presence, including website/ social media/targeted outreach Organize a variety of events to engage and inform various stakeholder groupsI also became involved in higher-level strategy discussions about the design/operations of the Village itself, including the Welcome Neighborhood - an innovative transitional program that helps people coming off the streets get safe and stabilized before entering programming. I became our primary researcher in this area -- spending the next 2 years studying & visiting programs around the world, which led to my opportunity to take on my additional role.

During my MBA program, I had the opportunity to be chosen to be the Research and Graduate Assistant by three different faculty members who have become important mentors to me. Boyd Craig, the Endowed Professor of Leadership and Vice Chairman of the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center, and Lord Michael Hastings, a Member of the House of Lords in the UK and Vice President at UNICEF UK, among many other things, invited me to be the Graduate Assistant for a brand new Principled Centered Leadership Course being offered for honors students. In this role, I worked directly with Professor Craig and Lord Hastings to create the new course structure, including the course materials. Our main assignment throughout the year was putting together a pitch for the Enactus Competition. I was in charge of helping students develop this pitch and it ended up winning first place in its category that year. I was also responsible for managing the execution of our World's Principled Leaders Series and coordinating with our incredible guest speakers from around the world to create a seamless experience for those attending in person, virtually via Zoom, or watching on our Youtube live stream. Expert speakers I had the chance to interact with and host events for include Muhammad Yunus - Nobel Peace Prize Winner and Founder of Grameen Bank; Horst Shultz - Founder & Former President of the Ritz-Carlton Company; David Beasley - Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme & Former Governor of South Carolina; Sir Paul Polman - Former CEO of Unilver; Stephen M.R. Covey - NYT Best Selling Author and Co-Founder of CoveyLink; among many others. Additionally, Michael Glauser, the Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, invited me to be his Research Assistant for a book he has been writing, as well as a Graduate Assistant for his Budding Entrepreneurs Course.

As a Philosophy Tutor, it is my role to be able to provide academic support and facilitate guidance to my peers in all areas of philosophy including formal logic, critical thinking, ethics and values, philosophy through the ages, and discussing different issues we face as humankind. In my position, I assist students (individually and in groups) by appointment and/or drop-in, in assigned courses and on content material. In addition, I also contribute to different academic tutoring initiatives like conducting class visits, creating and updating handouts, and contributing to Studypalooza at the end of the semester.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

As Director of Customer Loyalty and Data and Analytics, I took over and expanded the entirety of Even Stevens' loyalty and data analytics efforts. I gathered data on customer frequency, spending, and advocacy to develop actionable insights that could be pushed out to other teams. I oversaw Even Stevens' efforts to evolve its customer relationship management and created targeted loyalty campaigns designed around new customer insights. I became trained and certified in Qualtrics data analytics software and onboarded it to our organization, including training store General Managers on how to use it to gain meaningful insights into their store's performance. We used it to investigate customer experience and to simplify and streamline as many internal systems as possible. I also continued to oversee the execution of grassroots marketing efforts, including the expansion and solidification of marketing campaigns based on the new data we were gathering.

After 14 exciting months as the leader of our Grassroots Marketing team, I was promoted to Director of Community Engagement -- expanding my role to creating and managing Even Stevens' cumulative engagement and outreach efforts to our local communities. In addition to running our grassroots marketing team, I directed relationship-building efforts in new and existing markets and helped choose which companies and organizations we would partner with locally. I was in sole charge of our sponsorship efforts execution, budgets and follow-up reports of ROI of our efforts. I enjoyed this role because I got to work with all different members of our community, research, create and implement community engagement strategies crafted for each market's needs and lastly because I was able to run a small team of team members who loved our cause and neighborhoods just as much as I did.

Within one month of starting I was promoted to the head of the Even Stevens Street team after I developed and proposed a comprehensive marketing plan to increase revenue and community engagement. As Street Leader, I grew our grassroots marketing team from 4 members at two locations to 25 members at 7 locations, and added a new managerial position that made scaling our marketing and engagement model possible. Also during this time, I subsumed Even Stevens' live music system into Street, making that scalable and more effective as well.

To this day Safe Security Solutions continues as one of ADT's oldest dealerships to innovate and stay above board with the new technologies and systems that are available today.I took a job co-managing an office selling for Safe Security where I led blitzes all across Los Angeles County, including Oakland to Sacramento and everything in between. Our office exceeded sales goals on a regular basis and sold more winter accounts than any other office selling for Safe nationwide. I led meetings and held weekly interviews with our sales reps. I helped in the strategy and selection of choosing new sales areas, and then divided our team accordingly. In my role, I managed both the hiring and firing of reps, which was a tremendous learning experience.

My central task though, was to work with the leadership to develop a new organizational plan geared towards solving some of the serious accountability issues the foundation was having.
