I am a Senior Lecturer at Barts and The London Medical School, part of Queen Mary University of London. As theme lead for Sociology, I deliver and develop the teaching of social sciences across the Medical School. I teach medical students on the MBBS in London and Malta as well as on the intercalated BSc in Medical Education and the MA in Education for Clinical Contexts. I also teach qualitative research methods including ethnography, interviewing, NVivo and data analysis.My research integrates social sciences, health, sexuality and technology to better understand human behaviour. Projects have included sexual and reproductive health in complex environments (funded by UK FCDO), young people's experiences of sickle cell disease (funded by NIHR), and online life, sex and dating for LGBTQ+ communities (funded by ESRC). With LSHTM colleagues I have conducted research into Covid-19 and NHS and public health services for Gypsy, Roma & Traveller communities and migrant workers (funded by UK Department of Health), as well as co-production and PPI initiatives in London NHS Services (funded by NIHR).I joined QMUL from the Faculty for Public Health & Policy at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (2017-2022), where I worked as a Research Fellow and then Assistant Professor in social sciences.
