I presently work as a Project Supervisor at eHealth Africa (an African based public health organization that work on public health emergencies, surveillance, health delivery systems and logistics ), where I supervise the implementation of the Auto-Visual AFP Detection And Reporting (AVADAR) project which is at its implementation phase piloted previously in Nigeria for electronic polio surveillance. This project is happening right now in many countries in Africa including Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Liberia, Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Congo (DRC). My key responsibilities include training of health workers, engagement with the Disease surveillance Directorate under the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, monitoring and evaluation of the project outputs and staff and general project management. My current job enhances my skills in project management, external engagement and managing people.

With the complex Ebola outbreak, I was able to gain employment in the first ever clinical vaccine trial (Sierra Leone Trial to Introduce a Vaccine Against Ebola (STRIVE) with the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) of an Ebola vaccine in districts widely affected by the outbreak then in Sierra Leone. As a staff hired to help set up the trial sites with health workers and frontline responders to be eligible for the vaccine, it was a situation of how to translate the high level scientific terminologies involved in the vaccine trial to frontline responders like cleaners, sprayers, cooks, security guards at Ebola holding and treatment centers. In addition to that, I worked in this vaccine trial in various capacities from consultancy in surveillance, technical officer in social mobilization / communication, district vaccination coordinator, training officer to finally medical monitoring. This made me get the strength required to be involved in a public health activities so that my people can be saved and my country can be free from the outbreak. The vaccine trial was not only a benefit to Sierra Leone but was also meant to be a vaccine that could be used if there are outbreaks in other countries around the world. I worked in all the districts (Western Area Urban, Western Area Rural, Portloko, Bombali, and Tonkolili) where the trial took place.
