Sam has a distinguished career with over 15 years in senior leadership positions at three companies - Spencer Trask Ventures, Gartner Group and Unisys Corporation. He is highly regarded for his expertise in business development, sales and marketing and operational P&L management in the financial services, information services, information technology and professional services industries. He has a proven track record as a catalyst for change management, an innovative problem solver, strategic thinker, and a strong leader. During his career, Sam has developed a unique perspective on the challenges and idiosyncrasies that face small emerging growth businesses as he has worked with over 40 start up ventures to help create value by collaborating on business strategy, communicating a clear vision and value proposition, building world class Boards and management teams, structuring and sourcing investment capital, and executing on sales and marketing plans.

Sam was responsible for Gartner Group’s top fifty strategic clients, (The Platinum Accounts) representing 20% of all Gartner Group revenues. As the leader for 120 employees across 5 regions in North America, accountable for strategic vision and day to day operations to grow the business for Gartner Group’s information technology services and consulting offerings. As a change agent and prime catalyst assisted in transforming the Gartner Group business model from a transaction-based to relationship focused culture resulting in successful marketing of multi-year, multi-million dollar research and consulting services contracts to four industry sectors: Financial Services, Telecommunications, IT Infrastructure and IT Service Providers. Client relationships included, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Citibank, Chase Manhattan Bank, CSC, Ernest & Young, Deloitte & Touche, Lucent, and McKinsey.

Hired as a Relationship Manager in 1991 promoted to Regional Operations Manager and then to Area Manager. From 1991 to 1996, Sam established a proven track record and was rapidly promoted with increased leadership responsibility. Consistent over achievement of performance goals resulted in a promotion to Region Vice President, Northeast Region in 1994.
