I was part of the project team appointed to establish SAIMI and set up its governance, strategic and operational functions. I was involved in all aspects of the establishment and management of SAIMI, including sourcing of funding, stakeholder engagement, brand development, communication and marketing, project identification, and appointment of service providers.

Responsible for overall operational effectiveness of the Business Chamber, spanning communication, customer relationship management, SME helpdesk, information services, task teams, and strategic projects. Serve as strategic support and deputy to CEO.

Led a team of skilled communicators responsible for the university's corporate publications, media liaison, website, electronic communication and internal communication. Responsible for overall corporate communication strategy and planning. Worked closely with the Vice-Chancellor on communication and media issues, and handled media spokesperson role. Led the internal and external communication around the merger of UPE and PE Technikon to form NMMU, and played a key role in developing the mission and brand of the new university.

Started out with a holiday job at the Herald after completing my Journalism degree, and was offered a permanent position. Covered diverse beats and topics, did in-depth interviews and investigative features, and later specialised in court and crime reporting.
