I have over 20 years experience working with windows and doors. I started out working as a fitter welder and then with Haringey Council worked as a blacksmith (having to tell people all the time that I do not shoe horses - that would be a farrier!).I spent many years working with all things metal from railings, gates and garage doors and by default worked on Crittle - metal framed - windows. As the council gradually replaced the crittle with UPVC and I was the 'window person' the work also came to me. I purely learnt on the job, often each new installation of windows was with a different company each with different quirks, different handles and openers.I found that the best way to learn was to have a go, by taking apart locks and windows I could work out where it was broken and try to fix it. It also helped that I found a shop that supplied everything and were a good source of advice on what was obsolete and what to use instead. There was always a worry with firms and councils outsourcing my type of work and once we moved to Norfolk in 2011 knew I really wanted to work for myself. After a franchise company we signed up to went into liquidation after we had been operating for year in window repairs decided this was the business I still wanted to be in so set up S and C Windows in April 2014 with my wife. So we are still a very new business but with the benefit of building contacts in Norfolk for year.We are now building the business and trying to get our name out and profile raised.

OwnerS And C Window Repairs Ltd May 2014 - PresentNorfolkWe repair windows doors and conservatories, handles, hinges and more. We provide you with a friendly reliable service and an honest free estimate.I will come out for the small jobs, such as a single window handle that needs repairing without charging a premium or call out charge.Sometimes a door or window will only need a simple adjustment - often people with put up with a sticking door for years and all it needs is a bit of an adjustment. When this is the case - this is what I will do and not try to up sell a new lock or door. One of the main areas of the business is to replace failed glass in double glazed windows. This is where the seal round the glass has failed and moisture has got in, you will see condensation between the panes which will also stain as the salts in the water mark the window. The glass can be replaced without the need to replace the whole unit. Repairs to handles and hinges can often be carried out in one visit. This would include broken or missing handles, handles with out keys and hinges that have ceased up or even rusted in damp conditions. Again the whole window does not need replacing and hinges can also be locking (to prevent it being opened too far for security or child safety or easy clean - where the window can open right out to enable you to clean both sides of the glass. The look of your window is also important, the mastic seal round the frame can wear off or more commonly become marked with black mould, this can be replaced. Trim round the window can also fall off, break or get marked - again this is something I can replace. As well as repairs there are other areas I can help with such as fitting cat / dog flaps or replacing the panel in a door to remove a flap. If you are worried a window will open to wide as you have a child and concerned about safety, locking window restrictors can be fitted.Basically if you have a query or problem with a window, door or conservatory contact me and I will probably be able to help.
