During this time at NTC, I got the opportunity to work on different materials using various different optical techniques. The following are the project details.1. Role of phonons in the optical properties of ZnO material using photoluminescence and resonance Raman spectroscopy• This project addressed how electrons lose energy to phonons when the self-heating effect occurs in the ZnO based devices and described the phonon decay mechanism in ZnO• Investigated the effect of phonons on the temperature dependence of band gap using Passler's two oscillator model-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2. Influence of phonons on the temperature dependence of band gap of GaN, AlN, and AlGaN materials• Investigated the effect of phonons on the transition line width and temperature dependence of band gap of these materials using absorption spectroscopy-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------3. Optical properties of rare-earth doped YBO3 phosphor materials • Synthesized rare-earth doped YBO3 phosphor materials using hydrothermal technique• Characterize the prepared phosphor materials with X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, PL, PLE, SEM-CL, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy• Investigated the structural factors affecting the Eu3+ emission in YBO3 host matrix.• Studied the energy transfer scheme between dopants (Ce3+,Tb3+,Eu3+) to increase the PL efficiency of YBO3 host matrix for near ultra violet wavelength white light emitting diodes• Results are published in the peer-reviewed journals
