About Sandeep Varma Maicd

I'm a media startup founder, Board Chair, writer, community builder, ex-commercial and children's lawyer, leader and advocate for diversity, creativity, community and children's rights. I'm the founder and CEO of SAARI Collective, a media startup for South Asian Australians. I'm also the Chair of the Board of 100 Story Building, a creative literacy organisation for young people. I am passionate about amplifying South Asian voices, building community, anti-racism, helping young people and delivering impactful social change. As a former speechwriter and lawyer and current Board chair, I'm well-versed in leadership, media strategy, social enterprise, non-profit governance, community engagement, mediation, employment and child safety law. I'm a Dad, husband, the four-time Australian Chilli cooking champion (chile con carne) and a BBQ judge. I play basketball and coach my kids' team. In 2022, I was voted as an Impact25 Award winner, one of the 25 most impactful people in Australia in social impact.
