North American Rail Fleet Asset Manager
CurrentAs a Rail Fleet Asset Manager I am responsible for the overall rail asset strategy, fleet health metrics, maintenance and disposal of our various fleets for all North American divisions as well as overall responsibility for all fleet related activities and to development of the rail fleet organization to deliver ever-improving fleet solutions• Main responsible for all BASF owned and leased rail assets valued at $500 million• Build and maintain the strategic plan and associated deliverables for the Fleet function, vendor strategy, maintenance programs, negotiating with key suppliers and vendors.• Ensure compliance with all DOT/FRA and other applicable regulations along with representation of the company at the North American Chemistry Council. Interpret, apply, and educate field management on fleet related policies and procedures - Communicate regulatory requirements, industry trends and best practices, technology solutions while proactively managing risks and opportunities in each - Create and execute a maintenance schedule for railcar compliance testing based on AAR guidelines to ensure minimal shopping time and no customer disruption• Lead the development of the annual Fleet budget process of +60+ Mil, monthly budget variance analysis cost reconciliations, partnering with our finance team• Determine the overall fleet size by analyzing demand, historical transit and cycle times - Support a wide array of customers by designing and distributing ad hoc rail reports, including tracking information to all parties - Manages outbound rail car plans, empty rail car return flows, and production plans to keep The Company plant demurrage at minimum levels - Manage vendor relationships and performance over a range of key performance indicators, such as maintenance, performance and cost• Lead risk mitigation strategy for the department that minimizes the impact of potential concentration risk across the supply chain
