As the State Programme Manager for Maharashtra, I am responsible for all the state functions both programmatic and operational. The present strength of the state team is 25 and it is steadily increasing. I am responsible for raising resources jointly with the Resource Management Team, in addition to managing programmes and liaising with government for Save the Children in the state.

At Swissaid I had a diverse portfolio which consisted of partner management, conceptualization, design and implementation of programmes on youth and diversity, gender and panchayati raj. Apart from this I had 3 people reporting to me and was part of the SMT (Senior Managemement Team) in Swissaid.

From May 2010 till August 2010 I worked with Ernst and Young India, Development Advisory Services on a UNICEF commissioned research project on safe drinking water in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. This was followed by an assignment with Save the Children, Bihar, in September 2010 where I worked with the state team to develop a training manual on Life Skills training for children from disaster affected areas in the state and also conducted the training for master trainers on the same subjectI worked again in October and November 2010 with Ernst and Young India, Development Advisory Services, on a UNICEF Thailand commissioned project on Child Protection Information Management Systems in various departments of the Thailand government and looking at options for integrating existing systems for coordinated global reporting on Child Protection. In February and March 2011 I worked on multiple assignments from Save the Children West Bengal Office for compiling lessons learnt documents for the West Bengal and Orissa project on the Aila Emergency Response Project.

As the SPM Tamil Nadu, I was charge of leading a team of 7 persons at the State Level. The responsibilities of this position were: Designing the State Program Strategy in consultation with the Senior Management Team at Delhi and putting in place a workable action plan for implementing the same Establishing mode of cooperation with State Government of Tamil Nadu for implementation of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme roll out in the state in conjunction with UNICEF Identifying and building partnerships with child rights focused local agencies and networks and designing state level child rights campaigns which will be implemented to advocate for changes in state policy leading to or contributing to changes in national level policies Working with the National and State Marketing teams to raise adequate resources for the state program Engaging with Corporates with considerable local presence in Tamil Nadu and work with them to raise funding for Tamil Nadu state program Ensuring appropriate visibility for Save the Children programs being conducted within the State and contribute to increase SC visibility nationally in collaboration with the National Media and Communications Manager Representing Save the Children ably at all State level forums and platforms as and when required

The Tsunami Response Program of Save The Children Finland was in an allied mode with other Save the Children namely SC UK and SC Canada in which my role as the Save The Children Finland Representative within the Alliance for the Tsunami Response Program consisted of: Identifying and building partnerships with child rights focused local agencies – Center for Child Rights and Development and Association for Community Development Services Working intensively with the partner to build their capacities with regard to program/project management, Child Rights Programming and Child Participation etc. in planning and executing various project activities Coordination with Save The Children UK which is the lead in the Save The Children Alliance for Tsunami Response in India to ensure adherence to overall vision for Tsunami Response, avoid duplication of interventions and gain from shared learning  As part of the team of SC Finland was responsible for contributing to the country strategy plan for 2005-2007 and for strategic program planning, monitoring and implementation for Tsunami Response.  Collaborative capacity building for partners in Child Led Indicators for Child Friendly Schools was an important activity that was undertaken by me in my capacity as a representative of Save the Children Finland with the larger Alliance.

Conceptualized and designed as member of the core team capacity building programmes to simplify the concept of Business Development, designing and implementing organization systems and handling all the finance and administrative activities in the organization which works in the area of Development Research and Documentation

Supported in Designing and implementation of formative research for field-based programs for DANLEP and CARE Madhya Pradesh. Assignments from DANLEP were: Knowledge Attitude and Practices of Gonds of Central India with regard to Leprosy.  Documentation of efforts made by DANLEP, Madhya Pradesh in Mainstreaming Gender.  A comparative study between the Voluntary Reporting Approach and Active Search Approach adopted for the Modified Leprosy Elimination Campaign in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh States respectively. Documentation of Community Initiatives in Leprosy Elimination in Burhanpur.Assignments from CARE were: The Behavior Communication Change study which involved assessment of actors and factors impacting health behavior of target groups for the Maternal and Infant Survival Project and identification of appropriate strategies and strategy designs for addressing the same The Behavior Communication Change study assessment of actors and factors impacting health behavior of target groups for the Integrated Health and Nutrition Project and identification of appropriate strategies and strategy designs for addressing the same Partnership Assessment of NGOs in the Maternal and Infant Survival Project Areas in Hoshangabad and Harda districts

The Drought Mitigation Support of UNICEF aided employment generation activities in the 32 drought affected districts of MP. My responsibilities as a Drought Relief Support Officer consisted of: Being in-charge of Drought Relief Support in 05 Districts directly and 08 indirectly through line management of two Assistant Drought Relief Support Officers  Liaison with District Collectors and P.O. DRDA specifically for ensuring equity in employment generation activities sponsored by the government Monitoring of project implementation by various government departments Evaluation of output – Water Harvesting Structures as part of technical group  Documenting health related and other problems faced by the affected population

As a District Project Manager in Betul district in the Rural Women’s Empowerment and Development Project of the Madhya Pradesh Mahila Arthik Vikas Nigam, Bhopal, I was in charge of the district project office comprising of a team of five persons. In addition to this I was in charge of local partnerships with 10 agencies across 08 blocks of the district. My responsibilities were: Identification of Partners / Support Agencies Capacity Building Evaluation and selection of implementing partners from among local NGOs in the district  Monitoring of project implementation Managing an annual program budget of approximately 6 crores for the district Evaluation Liaison with parallel government departments and credit institutions  Networking Assessment of market potential for rural women’s Income Generation Activities

In this duration I worked as a Block Coordinator in the Integrated Nutrition and Health Project (INHP) of CARE-MP in Saja Block of Durg district (M P). My primary responsibilities were to identify and develop one local partnership with a voluntary organization for implementation support, line manage a team of 04 field staff, and coordinate with the health and the ICDS departments at the block level to ensure optimum use of people and materials to ensure better program outputs. Other responsibilities included: Monitoring and Co-ordination of CARE activities Mobilization of community at the village level and formation of groups Training needs assessment of CARE and government staff, community groups and NGO functionaries Training of CARE staff, government counterparts i.e. Health, ICDS and Block level functionaries, and partner NGOs in program interventions. Phased training of community members in specific health interventions  Identification of NGOs and other bodies for implementation of community based health programs

In Sanket I was involved in Social and Capacity Assessments for a World Bank aided project in various districts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. I was coordinating the chapter on Health.“SOCIAL ASSESSMENT FOR DISTRICT POVERTY INITIATIVE PROJECT”Client: Department of Institutional Finance, GOMP- World BankDuration: January to August 1997 (6 months)The Social Assessment was a pre-project study for a World Bank aided rural development project. It involved reviewing (desk-based) poverty-related issues in the project districts, conducting a detailed stakeholder analysis and an intensive ninety-day village level fieldwork based study to identify the causes of poverty in the district. The fieldwork used a large number of PRA tools. I was involved in Social Assessment of six districts and was the project coordinator for Rajgarh.“DISTRICT CAPACITY ASSESSMENT FOR DISTRICT POVERTY INITIATIVE PROJECT”Client: Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Govt. of RajasthanDuration: April 1997 (1 month)Was responsible for assessing the capacity of various development agencies in Baran district of Rajasthan, to take up implementation of District Poverty Initiative Program. The project involved intensive study of Government Department, NGOs and Panchayats and identified the capacity gaps and training needs.
