Happily freelance, I'm writing on fashion and non-fashion subjects (including beauty, tech, consumer, retail, travel, health, foods, investment and more). That means news writing, features, business analysis, trend reports and a lot more. Clients include WGSN.com, Theindustrylondon.com, Fashionnetwork.com, Fashion&Mash.com and Motleyfool.com. Plus there's my own blog, Trendwalk.net. As you can see, I'm very online-focused, although I recently spent six months at Campaign... My first return to print journalism since 1999.

  • Stylus Fashion
    Editor-In-Chief
    Stylus Fashion Mar 2014 - Oct 2015
    London, United Kingdom
I worked on the overall content and digital strategy including the introduction of the unique season-neutral concept and the website structure ahead of launch, as well as the tone of voice and all report formats. Post-launch I directed much of the content on the site, as well as creating trend, catwalk and business reports myself and subbing all content across trends and real-time. I also got involved in SF's social media strategy, running the LinkedIn channel and being involved with our Twitter and Instagram feeds plus our own internal social media network, The White Room.
  • Wgsn
    Editor-In-Chief
    Wgsn May 2011 - Jan 2014
    London, United Kingdom
I was promoted following my performance during the major site revamp project and in this new role had more control over editorial and digital direction, as well as the previous responsibilities I had as Global Managing Editor. Additionally I was a key contact point between content, sales and marketing. I drove the introduction of our experts offering video analysis and also worked with the team on the introduction of Google Hangout discussions.
  • Wgsn
    Global Managing Editor
    Wgsn Aug 2006 - May 2011
    London
I oversaw the collection of departments that covered real-time reporting, news, thought leadership, marketing and business. During my time as managing editor, I was given the additional role of heading up the Catwalks, Retail, What's In Store and City by City directories, expanding the department I ran to 24 people. During this time I was heavily involved in general troubleshooting training new staff, introducing new report formats, and working on the content strategy for the planned site revamp.
  • Wgsn
News Editor, Chief Sub, Tradeshows Editor And Beauty Editor
    Wgsn Mar 1999 - Aug 2006
    London
I created the template for WGSN's successful news operation, originating, writing, subbing and laying out up to 20 news stories a day in a style that blended heavyweight business analysis with an approachable tone of voice. I also took on the additional Tradeshows Editor role in order to bring some order to a slightly out-of-control tradeshows offer and I launched the company's well-regarded beauty section, which I wrote in a few spare hours during the afternoons. The job allowed me to make the most of my broad spread of experience across fashion, beauty and industry, with straight news writing, product analysis and trend analysis. When I joined the company I was also the site's main sub-editor for the first 18 months.
  • Style Publishing
    Editor
    Style Publishing 1996 - 1998
    London, United Kingdom
I was Editor of a basket of titles including Hair & Beauty, Hair Now, Wedding Hair & Beauty, Cosmetics Business World and several foreign language versions of those magazines. In this role I came up with the ideas, wrote the features, sub-edited most of the work and liaised closely with all departments including art and sales.
  • Cosmetics International
    Editor
    Cosmetics International Sep 1991 - Jun 1996
    London
As editor of this fortnightly business publication I originated and wrote news and features, covered product launches, visited conferences and trade shows, as well as subbing and laying out the whole magazine.
