In recent years an increasing number of high-quality children's and young adult books are published that portray South Asia or South Asians living abroad. To encourage and commend authors and publishers who produce such books, and to provide librarians and teachers with recommendations for educational use, the South Asia National Outreach Consortium (SANOC) offers yearly book awards to call attention to outstanding works on South Asia.

Every year, the 50 finalists of the Global Teacher Prize join an extraordinary community of the world's finest teachers called Global Teacher Prize Ambassadors. Since 2014, the Global Teacher Prize has gone from strength to strength, with the 2021 Prize bringing in over 8,000 applications and nominations. As well as having a voice at policy level, we work together on global projects, reaching an increasing number of teachers and children across the globe. Many of us teach in communities facing discrimination, poverty and conflict and while we are all different, we share the belief that education transforms lives.

Comprised of Wisconsin Teachers of the Year, the Council (WTOYC) provides strong two-way communication and collaboration between the Department of Public Instruction and educators in the field, benefiting both the Department and the field through shared learning, advocacy, and leadership opportunities. The WTOYC is also an inspirational organization, working to use member expertise and efforts to elevate the field of public education for all students, teachers, administrators, families and communities.

Any teacher who was chosen as a WI Teacher of the Year may join the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year Network (WTOYN), a chapter of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY). The WTOYN provides opportunities for Teachers of the Year to collaborate to meet the vision of the Network: "to open doors and build bridges so that practice, policy, and leadership all focus on what is best for children."
