Participate in the operations of the City's traffic engineering programs; provide recommendations for improving the operational efficiency of the City's traffic programs; prepare various reports on operations and activities.Develop and oversee transportation programs including Traffic Calming, School Safety and Street Lighting programs.Participate in a variety of studies; oversee collection of traffic data; analyze for planning and traffic engineering evaluations; provide professional level analysis of issues.Prepare recommendations relative to area of responsibility; develop reports, drawings, and sketches for use in meetings, installations, and construction.Administer the review of existing and proposed traffic control devices for safety and compliance with applicable traffic control codes and regulations; design safe and effective uses of traffic control devices.Develop, analyze and implement Traffic Control Signal coordination plans; administer programming of signal controller for timing and coordination of City traffic signals; oversee and participate in maintaining the signal timing database and interconnect system. Administer programming and maintenance of school flashers; coordinate with school district.Issue work orders for the installation of traffic signs, signals, pavement markings, and streetlights.Assist in updating and maintaining traffic volume database and GIS transportation database.Meet with contractors and City staff to identify and resolve problems; monitor and evaluate procedures and service levels.Respond to inquiries and requests by members of the public and City staff; provide traffic information and explain policies, procedures and services; perform field investigation of traffic related requests.Prepare and give presentations for meetings and public education events; create informational flyers and brochures.Participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of traffic planning.

Install, program, maintain and repair traffic signals and school flashers.Obtain and tabulate field data for engineering evaluations.Install and maintain permanent data gathering stations (solar, cellular and computerized).Inventory, install, maintain, design and fabricate traffic control signs.Pavement markings layout and inspection and testing contractor activities.Train temporary personnel and other entities on similar traffic programs and procedures.Handle citizen and interdepartmental requests, processing work orders, calling in locates.Design, set-up and inspect work zones traffic control.
