As a Poll Clerk, small teams of 3/4 were tasked with managing the influx of voters throughout a day for an entire constituency. My role involved assisting the Presiding Officer, helping conduct the layout of the polling station, preparing for the opening of the poll and ensuring the poll station was run efficiently. Within this role quality customer service was necessary including high attention to detail enabling me to issue ballot papers to voters, checking that electors were eligible to vote in the elections (and they were at the right polling station).Impartiality was also a key skill needed for this role, as I had to be able to remain politically neutral whilst adhering to high levels of secrecy. This was a highly enjoyable experience and I felt honoured to be apart of important decision-making processes for the government.
