About Sandra Scalise

“Words matter. Words shape worldviews. Words provoke action and reaction, which in turn provoke more words. Getting the words right is critically important. Getting the action right is also critically important. And aligning the words and actions is even more important." - Helio Fred Garcia. For me, words are more than just a communication tool. They capture intent and set direction and in the world of tyres and circular economies, every word, every action counts. Switching from government roles in workplace relations to Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) was more than a career move. I'm passionate about making a positive difference in sustainability and this was my opportunity. I lead TSA's Strategic Marketing Communications teams, my aim is straightforward: bring our teams together, work efficiently, and deliver results that matter. I don't just strategise; I make things happen by shifting between planning, strategising, and implementing modes as needed. My proudest moment to date? Delivered Australia’s first comprehensive report on off-the-road tyres (think big mining tyres, farming and factory equipment and conveyor belts) report – 2 years and lots of research and consultation. It wasn't just about its culmination but our pioneering steps: initiating pivotal conversations with mining sectors, unlocking potential for indigenous communities, and establishing TSA's credibility in new sectors and with government. While the pace at TSA is fast and entrepreneurial, I've always believed in blending innovation with introspection to make informed, impactful decisions. We move quickly, but I bring clarity and purpose rooted in core values, supporting us to chase bold ideas and targets. The foundation of my successes? Building genuine, trusting relationships. My engagements with stakeholders strike a balance: professional yet personal. By understanding their perspectives, I get smarter, we find places for mutualism, and we can work together to make meaningful change (sometimes, even a little magic). Together with the amazing team at TSA, I'm excited to continue shaping our industry's future for the better and continue to contribute to future projects to drive sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres.Whether it's about used tyre management and recovery – off-the-road tyres and conveyors in mining and agriculture sectors, stakeholder engagement, best practice engagement with our First Nations peoples, or circular economy strategies, I'm here for a conversation. 📧 Connect with me on LinkedIn or email sandra.scalise@tyrestewardship.org.au
