Gardening and writing have been two guiding forces in my life. I planted my first little herb garden more than 40 years ago and started writing much earlier than that. After many ups and downs, bumps and grinds in life, I finally settled on writing as a career, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism with a focus on magazines. Shortly after graduation I went to work for a small town newspaper and spent nearly 20 years with writing (photography and editing) as my career, and gardening as a sideline, becoming more passionate about the sideline as the years passed.In 2007, my husband and I bought property and I became a full-time gardener with writing as a sideline. I love both gardening and writing and am truly happy when I am writing about gardening or nature.
