Provided leadership for the Division of Academic Affairs, including oversight of 5 academic schools, the library, the Bandy Heritage Center, academic advising, distance education, the Center for International Education, the Center for Academic Excellence, the First Year Experience program, Dalton State College's Quality Enhancement Plan, and special projects such as Dalton State's participation in the University of GA System's Adult Learning Consortium. In addition, chaired the most recent strategic planning committee to develop the college's current strategic plan, co-chaired the college's Complete College GA initiative, chaired the Diversity Committee, and co-led an initiative to re-define the campus culture. Worked with faculty on a course redesign initiative, helped faculty establish a Faculty Senate, and worked with faculty to revise the college's promotion and tenure guidelines. Worked with faculty and community leaders to create an academic master plan and in three years de-activated and/or terminated approximately 80 mini-certificate, certificate and degree programs, while obtaining Board of Regents' approval for four new 4-year degree programs, including the college's first totally on-line degree program in collaboration with Valdosta State University. Led academic affairs involvement in planning and design of new science building and renovation of existing building to house programs in the School of Health Professions. Worked with Director of the Center for International Education to establish new exchange agreements with universities in Belgium, China, Taiwan, S. Korea, and the Dominican Republic. Worked with community leaders on special initiatives such as the Archway project, community literacy, and economic development. In three years, retention rates increased 9%, and graduation rates increased almost 5%. Show less
