The Wisconsin Innovation Service Center (WISC), located on the UW-W campus, serves clients throughout the United States and around the world assisting innovative manufacturers, technology businesses, and inventors with early-stage market feasibility assessments of new product and service ideas. Custom market analysis projects include customer assessments, distributor assessments, and competitive intelligence searches. As research manager, I provided oversight for the research process from the evaluation of the client's need, to design of the research methodology, collection of date, and development of final report-out.My responsibilities included initiating, negotiating, and securing research projects and managing select upper level and graduate student researchers and report coordinators. To minimize the impact of student employee transitions, I led the creation of comprehensive training materials and standard operating procedures to capture legacy knowledge and duplicate successful practices in an effort to accelerate learning for new hires.Studies included analyses of supplier of choice requirements for companies seeking to diversify into new markets, assessments of customer needs for new product/service innovations, identification of market expansion opportunities, and market feasibility analyses for new business establishments including two direct foreign investment opportunities. Additionally, I proposed and implemented research targeting stage-two companies in regards to business growth needs and concerns for three SBDC State offices.

Initiated a strategic alliance between economic development agencies within Whiteside County in response to the exit of the largest employer in the county. The purpose of the strategic alliance was to refocus the economic development process from the traditional industrial recruitment strategy to the creation of a culture of support for small businesses, particularly in terms of developing resource networks in Whiteside County.
