Throughout my career in the advocacy field, I've had the chance to serve vulnerable populations who experience abuse and choose to reach out/seek support when it is safe and when they feel ready to do so. Being trusted with personal information and details of their situation is humbling. Every day was different, just like each person I had the privilege of serving. The challenges I encountered gave me the opportunity to rely on my training, think critically, provide a safe space for everyone, and be a resource. Where am I now? I have transitioned to serving and recruiting talent for a local non-profit that focuses on supporting survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones. The skills that I developed early on are relied on daily, but I continue to grow and learn, assist stakeholders, am trusted to handle confidential information with attention, and ensure that business goals are met.
