My role is to sharpen, deepen, and expand the mission and reach of True Kids 1 so that we make strong and sustained contributions in how technology shapes the next generation -- by teaching, inspiring, and training students in hands-on, work-ready media skills to amplify their voice for social justice and change.

As the ED of this 56-year old organization, I oversaw all aspects of CIR's four major programs. These include: our international visitor program, where we welcome over 400 young global leaders to Santa Fe every year; our education program for the Santa Fe community, featuring talks and lectures and cultural excursions through books and food and movies; our education program for high school and college students, teaching them the core competencies of the global citizen through innovative simulations, one-on-one mentoring, and special events; and our innovative Journalism under Fire conference, held every autumn.

I am an independent consultant working with funding agencies, universities, and non-profits around the world. I specialize in both knowledge translation (connecting health research and health policy processes) and organizational development (strategic planning, fundraising, governance) in the fields of health and education. * Project Design and Organizational Development – since 2003 have developed pioneering activities, strategies and organizations designed to connect health research and health policy processes in countries around the world. Have worked directly with Ministries of Health, funding agencies and non-profit organizations across sub-Saharan Africa and eastern Europe.* Resource Mobilization - have successfully written or brokered various grant proposals or projects for organizations around the world (netting over US$4.1 million to date).* Systems Thinking – have developed and applied practice-oriented systems-thinking concepts for the World Health Organization, with a specific focus on access to medicines and broader intervention design.* Strategic Planning – have authored the Strategic Plans for five different global organizations.* Evaluation – have designed and led qualitative evaluations of policy networks, social networks, and non-profit organizations.* Communications – author of think pieces, curricula, peer-reviewed papers, toolkits, policy briefs, etc.; workshop facilitator; videographer of projects across the globe; designer of institutional communications strategies for global agencies and NGOs.* Languages – French (medium-high), Spanish (medium). I was the project coordinator for Research Matters in Governance, Equity and Health. This included:Project Management:* Lead writer/broker on funding proposals and partnerships that netted over $2.5 million.* Developed, monitored, reviewed projects and grants that disbursed over US$2 million. Projects included: organizational development; training; M&E; multimedia production; commissioned papers. * Grantees included: CSOs, research institutes, universities, government.* Routine travel across Africa to: identify/monitor partners, projects, opportunities; promote a community-of-practice among KT practitioners, donor organizations, and national governments.* Hired, managed and supervised full-time project staff (in Kenya and Canada), interns, and consultants.Capacity Building:* Lead developer in building two separate KT institutions (one in Zambia, one at the EAC in Arusha, Tanzania) dedicated to KT, knowledge management (KM) and knowledge brokering.* Trained research teams in KT, KM, video, internet, policy briefs, proposal writing, presentations, and conference/workshop planning. Communications/Dissemination:* Wrote a range of dissemination products; shot, produced, and edited videos on health and development projects in South Africa, México, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Sénégal; presented/chaired at a variety of international conferences and fora: the Global Forum for Health Research (2007), the East African Health Research Commission (2007), the Human Resources for Health Research Conference (2006), the Canadian Conference for International Health (2006, 2004).
