I have a 30 year background in the legal field as a paralegal, receiving my formal training at NAIT. Until spring 2023, I was the office administrator at a smaller law firm managing a staff of 8 plus four lawyers. As a senior paralegal/office administrator, I was tasked with managing the day to day operations of a law firm plus teaching and guiding our more junior legal assistants and ensuring the effective management of the law firm. Since mid-2023, I have been working part-time with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta as the paralegal assisting in-house counsel as well as assisting in the Hearings Director’s office at CPSA.It has always been my philosophy that you don’t manage people but lead people. As a result I make every effort to lead by example. I have always held leadership roles within volunteer organizations whether it was numerous years as a Parent Advisory Council Chairperson, the Chairperson spearheading the allocation of a junior high school or standing beside the leaders of the Oakmont Group in opposing Riverbank Landing. For four years, I was an active member of the St. Albert Subdivision and Development Appeal Board. I was appointed by St. Albert City Council to sit on the Assessment Review Board in March, 2023, a position I continue to hold to date.A number of years ago I was encouraged by political leaders to run for School Trustee as they felt that my leadership skills would be advantageous in that role. At the time I was a single parent of three young men and simply could not commit the time to be effective. At this stage, with three grown children, I find myself challenged to give back to St. Albert, hence my passion and commitment to the city of St Albert.
