The San Antonio SHRM is a non-profit professional organization with more than 500 members dedicated to the advancement of the human resource management profession.San Antonio SHRM is a chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) was founded in 1959, was originally called the San Antonio Personnel Management Association (SAPMA) and consisted of approximately 25 members. The founding members established the association as a means to provide a forum for personnel and industrial relations professionals in the community. SA SHRM is now the leading provider of resources serving the needs of HR professionals and advancing the practice of human resource management in the city of San Antonio. We continue to fulfill our founding members’ vision in multiple ways to exchange ideas, discuss best practices, promote professional relationships, serve the community, and encourage and facilitate excellence in human resource management. The chapter builds upon its legacy, meeting members’ needs and carrying out the SA SHRM mission through our dedication to Learn Connect Serve.

Course Descriptions:Staffing - introduction to the basic principles and techniques of staffing the workplace. Students introduced to basic and intermediate level theories and strategies utilized in staffing, planning, recruiting, and selection. Topics covered include: job analysis, recruitment, selection, and performance management.Managing Human Resources - a comprehensive view of personnel policy development with emphasis on the interdependence of personnel and operating functions. Students analyze personnel functions of recruitment, development, training, compensation, integration into the workforce, and maintenance of personnel for the purpose of contributing to organizational, societal, and individual goals.

Involved in strategic decisions affecting the organizations operations partnering with the key senior executives and Board of Directors.

Developed HR department and controlled HR functions of this retail family owned business. Established a standard human resources procedures and policies where none existed. Administered payroll and benefits, oversaw employee relations and performance management. Developed a comprehensive employee handbook and established job descriptions aligning with a revamped organizational structure. Facilitated additional training to incorporate company policy and increase awareness on legislative acts and Family Medical Leave, and Americans with Disabilities Act.
