Provided horticultural expertise on a variety of renovations and new installations in the Duncan area, and led a small landscaping crew, ensuring estimates were met and clients were satisfied.

Created a social enterprise for a WorkBC program to start a nursery selling native and medicinal plants. Also supervised the operation of a seed farm and assisted with the application of grants for the following year.

As part of the Natural Areas team, responsible for the identification, treatment, and monitoring of invasive plants in the parks and green spaces of Saanich. Duties have grown to include small tree maintenance and park trail maintenance, as well as staying involved with restoration and development plans.

Assisted with a large-scale Scotch Broom removal project in Metchosin, BC. Used and maintained brush saws on rough terrain and worked in close proximity to heavy machinery. Attention was given to sensitive areas due to the proximity to streams and the ocean.

Planned and conducted daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that improved the beauty and efficiency of the nature sanctuary. Organized volunteer efforts to contribute to ongoing restorations, and assisted in the planning and operations of the 2013 Native Plant Sale.

Responsible for organizing the removal of reported Knotweed infestations on Southern Vancouver Island. Identified and inventoried Knotweed species and entered information into the provincial Invasive Alien Plant Program (IAPP) database. Researched applicable pesticide policies and bylaws to work with municipal governments, property owners, and contractors for the treatment and removal of Knotweed.

Inventoried invasive plants on Southern Vancouver Island, and input data into BC’s Invasive Alien Plant Program (IAPP) database. Coordinated efforts with several municipalities and regional districts, and worked with the Municipality of Saanich to locate Purple Loosestrife and release biocontrol agents in heavily infested areas. Gathered data for a provincial social marketing program while providing information directly to boaters at high-traffic boat launches and public events.

Responsible for the identification, classification, and correction of raw Lidar data using Bentley Microstation software. Used orthophotos and satellite imagery to assist in the identification of ground structure, transmission lines, and other objects. Produced three-dimensional objects from Lidar data using CAD and other specialized software, and performed QA/QC checks on all projects before delivery to other departments or the client.
