Nationally renowned leadership scholarship program that partners with elite colleges across the nation and trains diverse teams of seniors from public high schools to have a positive impact on their campuses and in the workforce• Supervised a team of five to provide comprehensive academic and social support for Scholars at six partner schools: Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Pepperdine University, Northwestern University, Grinnell College, Bucknell University, and University of Wisconsin - Madison.• Collaborated with senior-level university administrators to establish recruitment priorities, plan campus-wide Posse Plus Retreats, and develop training for university staff who mentor Scholars• Lead strategic planning initiatives to improve recruiting efforts to identify 100 students out of 2500 applicants• Responsible for staff development, including recruitment, training, and onboarding processes• Oversee Scholar selection; including outreach to Los Angeles area schools and community based organizations and a three-phase interview process for up to 2,500 nominations yearly• Manage 8-month training program for Posse Scholars, co-facilitating and evaluating workshops• Partner with Posse Los Angeles partner colleges to support over 200 Posse Scholars • Oversee volunteer selection, training, and orientations

The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. The Posse Foundation extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. The Foundation’s partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships.The role of the Posse trainer is to help recruit, train, support, encourage and maintain contact with Posse Scholars. The Posse trainer works with Scholars beginning in their senior year of high school and continuing to their graduation from the partner college or university. The Posse trainer works with Scholars both on an individual basis and in groups. As a Posse trainer, I also:-Raise awareness of Posse program at high schools and community-based organizations through personal contact with college counselors, principals, program directors and other staff-Develop, modify, and facilitate college application, admissions and financial aid workshops for college bound high school students and families-Assist in recruitment of 100 Posse Scholars from over 2500 applicants from Los Angeles high schools and community organizations for the Posse program-Plan, facilitate, and evaluate workshops, summer retreats, and other activities during an eight-month pre-collegiate training to create community while emphasizing leadership, teambuilding, and cross-cultural communication.-Assist in implementation of Posse STEM initiative, plan STEM specific workshops and work with STEM faculty and administration from partner schools to best support Scholars.-Maintain relationships with staff, administrators and faculty at partner colleges and universities

City Year works to bridge the gap in high-poverty communities between the support that students actually need, and what their schools are designed and resourced to provide. In doing so, City Year is helping to increase graduation rates across the country, and changing the lives of the students we serveTeam Leaders are school based senior corps members who lead team initiatives such as school related projects and community engagement. In addition they support their Program Manager in maintaining sustainable school house relationships and service delivery. Throughout the service year they work with their teams to provide peer coaching in increasing their service delivery and navigating their corps experience. As a City Year Team Leader, I also:-Supervised a team of 7 Corps Members working at Malabar Street Elementary in Boyle Heights as full-time tutors, mentors, and role models in classrooms, an afterschool program, and various school events and initiatives.-Coordinated after-school program for 50-60 students in the 3rd – 6th grades. -Provided ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring to Corps Members-Analyzed student data to inform weekly lesson plans ensured strategic implementation of programmatic goals for successful academic support for students.-Supported 6th grade classrooms to ensure students’ learning trajectory complied with California standards.
