Over 35 years in Education, I have had a focus on helping others in the roles of teacher, learning support teacher, guidance officer, a/senior guidance officer, statewide verifier and statewide senior guidance officer.As a child I was a member of the Red Cross. While at Uni I was involved as a volunteer in horse riding for the disabled, and in the Early Childhood Development Program. I also volunteered in the Jardine Street Spastic Centre in Rockhampton. While the two children were at school I served on the South Burnett Catholic College Board for a number of years and was the Chairman of the Board for one year. Since 1996 I have been a member of Quota International supporting disadvantaged women and children. While in Kingaroy I held positions of Student of the Year Coordinator, Member of the Board, Secretary and President. In Brisbane I have held the positions of Secretary, President, Treasurer of Region 13 and I also served as the Governor of QI District 30 in 2014. I am one of the delegates for Quota Brisbane for the National Council of Women of Queensland serving on the Management Committee for more than five years assisting with Event Organisation, Writing blogs for the Website featuring ‘NCWQ Women of Note’ , serving as the Recording Secretary for a number of years and assisting with the Constitution Review. More recently I have served as the President of NCWQ where my focus has been to involve members and build on the legacy of past leaders. I have introduced an Advocacy Hub which has actively involved members and Advisors and consulted outside of the organisation. As the President I also hold a position on the Board of the National Council of Women of Australia. While In the role of President for Quota Brisbane I organised the development of the club’s new website and continue to manage the facebook page I established several years ago. I continue to network with the Advisory Visiting Teacher Regional team to provide support to children with hearing loss through the ‘Listening to Learn Program’. I currently hold the position of Secretary for Quota Brisbane.
